The Okanagan Valley is known for its spectacular vineyards producing premium quality wines that regularly win national and international wine competitions and recognition. Few wine-producing regions in the world can match our combination of mountains, lakes, fresh air and intense sunlight with so many grape varietals.
Over 20 wineries are located in Kelowna with well over 100 in the whole Okanagan Valley region. The sun-drenched valley surrounding Kelowna is dotted with farm-gate wineries too, where each vintage is lovingly bottled by hand. All wineries offer wine tasting. As well, several wineries have facility tours to teach visitors the art of wine making. Wine tours can last from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the winery. Many wineries have unique and delicious food services available. Gourmet regional cuisine, tapas-style fare or cheese and fruit platters are served either indoors or on protected patios, all with spectacular lake and valley views. Reservations are not required. Tours are open to people of all ages, however guests or youth under the age of 19 are not permitted to taste the wine.
The Wines of British Columbia reflect the agricultural and natural heritage of British Columbia. When you savor the aroma and taste the wines, you are experiencing something uniquely BC. Along the way you will even learn how to identify some traits of great tasting wines.
Wine Route signage showing a cluster of grapes is placed along all major roadways to designate nearby wineries. Wine tour companies also offer a selection of half-day and full-day guided excursions. Visitors are provided the opportunity to experience the diversity of our wineries, aided by an expert designated driver and guide. Private and group bookings are available year round.
